1st Party Publishers

The Main Company’s in the market To Date – These would take care of the financial side of things  and authorise if they would like to release the game on their Consoles or if it needed more work before it was released.

An example of a first party publisher is microsoft studios.
Microsoft studios is the video game wing of microsoft the multinational, multi platform corporation.
Microsoft studios is responsible for the the development and publishing of the games for xbox 360.

3rd Party Publishers

These are the companys that work closest to the main company's and make the games that are then published by the big companys. An example of this is 343 industries the creators of the soon to be released halo 4 have a direct link to microsoft studio's then microsoft studios deal with all the finance side of things but at the same time work with the third party publishers to create and publish the game.

Developers

A video game developer is a business or individual that creates video games. Some developers specialise in one certain game or platform such as Turn 10 studios they specialise in the Forza car racing series and it is only available to xbox users.

Most video game publishers maintain development studios, Turn 10 are also an example of this too being the developer op the forza series  as well as being the publisher of the game forza motersport turn 10 was established to create the forza series in 2001 by microsoft game studios.

Distribution & Retail

Distribution is one of the four elements of the marketing mix the others include, product, pricing & promotion.

Distribution  is the process of making a service available for use or intake by a business user using direct means with intercessor's.

Retail is how and where it gets sold a great example would be game retail limited.
Game is a British video game retail company where popular game developers such as nintendo,  microsoft,  & Sony give them supplies of the games they create to sell for them and and also make a profit out of doing so.

Apps

A mobile application is a software application that is designed to run on smart devices such as the iphone they are usually available from an online store which sells them such as the  apple store. Some apps or free but most of the more popular or worked on apps tend to have a price tag.

An example of a smartphone is the iPhone you connect to the app store with a internet connection and a log in and then begin your purchases some apps are run from donations which are not mandatory an example of this is nds4droid which is a Nintendo ds game emulator.

Press and Media

The video games industry is the economic side of things which includes the development stages marketing and the sales of video games.

The press of the video games industry review criticize and help improve the standards of the games and what the buyer would like to see.An example of video games press writers are official Xbox magazine  this helps the producer know they need to improve on,  keep the same or remaster.
